For your convenience, Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute offers magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services. MRIs use special technology to capture images of structures inside the body, such as muscles, bones and tendons. These digital images often provide information that cannot be seen with X-rays, ultrasounds and CT scans.
Located in a comfortable, private suite within KCOI, our advanced specialization in musculoskeletal radiology means the best quality image testing for your orthopaedic needs. Our team includes board-certified radiologists who specialize in orthopaedics and skilled technologists with advanced certification in MRI. Our radiologists provide same-day readings for all exams (reports are submitted to the ordering physician). And, upon request, we will save your digital images to a disk you can take with you, and we store all images at KCOI for fast retrieval at any point in the future.
KCOI’s 1.0 Tesla MRI – a high field short bore MRI scanner – is designed for patient comfort and high quality imaging. Compared to traditional closed MRI, our short bore MRI is larger in diameter and has more room between the patient’s head and the magnet – a true benefit for patients who may experience anxiety or other discomfort in small spaces.
A physician’s order is required for MRI services, either from your own physician or from one of the specialists here at KCOI. Our hours of operation are:
• Monday-Friday, 6:45 am to 9:30 pm
