Located at 3651 College Blvd. in Leawood, Ortho Urgent Care combines orthopedic expertise with convenient, after-hours care for orthopedic injuries caused by falls, sporting mishaps and other accidents.

“Ortho Urgent Care provides a specialized alternative to the emergency room, where wait times can be long, co-pays can be high, and orthopedic sub-specialization may be unavailable at the time of service,” said Charles Rhoades, M.D., CEO of Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute. “By bringing patients after-hours access to our in-house expertise of more than 25 board-certified orthopedic physicians, we are very excited to fill this need in our local community.”

Staffed by experts who specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine, Ortho Urgent Care offers diagnosis and treatment for common musculoskeletal injuries such as fractures, sprains, strains, torn ligaments, muscle contusions, and minor lacerations. (Patients with concussions and major traumatic injuries that threaten life or limb, however, are still advised to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.)

Walk-in service will be available for patients 12 and older from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. As the newest addition to the hospital’s uniquely comprehensive approach to orthopedic medicine, Ortho Urgent Care provides a wide range of onsite services, including diagnostic imaging, bracing, splinting and casting. Staff at the center can also assist with scheduling rehabilitation therapy sessions, which are also available onsite at the hospital.
